Teaching & Research

Siphiwo Mahala’s research interests include Contemporary African Literature, Colonial and Post-Colonial Literature, Black Intellectual History, Short Story Writing as well as Creative Writing. He is teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is widely published as a novelist, short story writer, playwright, biographer and essayist. His articles appear in several local and international publications. He was recognised with both the Students’ Choice Teaching Award and the Emerging Researcher Award for 2023 in the Faculty of Humanities, University of Johannesburg.
